Scarecrow Contest to benefit Granbury Education Foundation

Get ready to unleash your creativity and support a great cause for the upcoming Scarecrow fundraiser, hosted by Granbury Door and Window. This exciting event promises fun, community spirit, and a unique opportunity for participants to build and showcase their very own scarecrow creations, all in support of the Granbury Education Foundation.

We have been part of the local business community for over 23 years and have always had a strong commitment to giving back. This year, we have teamed up with the Granbury Education Foundation to organize a delightful, family-friendly event that will raise funds to benefit educational programs within the Granbury’s public schools.

Participants of all ages are invited to register their scarecrow and let their imaginations run wild. Whether you’re a seasoned scarecrow builder or a first-time participant, this event is all about having fun and supporting a worthy cause.

“We had fun making our scarecrows at the office.”, said David Orcutt, owner of Granbury Door and Window. “It’s a chance for your family to get creative and have fun, while supporting the schools.  I’ll bet some folks have crazy good and imaginative scarecrows – we can’t wait to see what folks come up with!”

The scarecrows can take on any form or theme participants desire, from traditional and rustic to whimsical and outlandish. The event encourages individual expression and allows for a wide range of artistic visions to come to life.  However, no scary or violent scarecrows are allowed.

The highlight of the Scarecrow Fundraiser will be seeing all the entries online.  Photos will be posted on Facebook/Instagram, and on our website.  The scarecrows will compete in 3 categories: Best use of doors, windows or gorillas (our mascot), Most Creative, and Online Votes.  Enter by October 15, and judging will be done by the 19th.  First place in each category will receive a “trophy sign” to display with your masterpiece.

Another fun aspect of the fundraiser – participants have the opportunity to support their favorite school!  During registration, they choose the school they would like to represent.  The school with the most participation, per capita, will get $500… funded by Granbury Door and Window!  So, whether you have a child or grandchild in the school system, it’s important to choose a school.  Schools outside GISD are invited to participate, as well.

Community members and attendees have the opportunity to cast their votes for their preferred scarecrows, on Granbury Door and Window’s Facebook and Instagram pages, adding an element of friendly competition to the festivities.  So be sure to follow and like our social media pages so you can cast your vote.

All entry fees from the Scarecrow Fundraiser will go directly to the Granbury Education Foundation.  GEF supports the Granbury Independent School District with educational opportunities plus provides scholarships for students. The foundation has a proven track record of providing resources, grants, and scholarships that directly benefit local students and educators.  This year the Granbury Education Foundation is hoping to reach their $1,000,000 goal.

As the event date approaches, excitement is building within the Granbury community.  The Scarecrow Fundraiser is not only an opportunity to show off artistic skills as you decorate your home or business for Fall, but also a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the future of education in Granbury. It’s a win-win for all involved. Participants are encouraged to register and invite their friends and family to join in the fun.
